c, 1964 National Reso-Phonic Model 1133 at Pittsburgh Guitars c. 1964 National Reso-Phonic Model 1133
Sweet! This red pearl, 22" scale acoustic resonator guitar was made as a student model, with a thin cutaway body, heavy celluloid pickguard, and pearl inlay position markers. Ad early National catalog says "The bridge is mounted at the apex of a very sensitive, light metal cone which acts as a resonator. Since the body is solid, virtually all the string vibrations are transmitted directly to the air, resulting in a strong, well sustained tone with considerable carrying power. Heavily chromed grilles protect front and back of the resonator." It's in excellent overall condition, with 2 small breaks in the pearloid covering at the waist. The model was made from the mid-late 1950s through the mid-1960s, with red pearl as a later color. Price includes new gig bag. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7)

Banjos, Ukes, and Mandolins

c. 1950s Martin Style 0 Soprano uke at Pittsburgh Guitars c. 1950s Martin Style O Soprano Ukulele
A clean example from the 1950s, solid mahogany, with some scratches and dings. Plays great, holds its tuning forever, and sounds rich and sweet. Price includes a non-original hard padded case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6)
c. 1928 Paramount Style B Tenor banjo at Pittsburgh Guitars 1928 Paramount Style B Tenor Banjo
Famous the world over in its time, and highly sought after by dance band players in the 1920s, Paramount banjos were marketed as "The Banjo with Piano Volume and Harp Quality." The position markers are a fancy pearl design, and the headstock is decorated with stylish pearl inlays. This banjo is almost completely original, with calfskin head, and in excellent overall condition given its age. It has assorted dings and scratches, one replacement tuner, and the playwear you'd expect from an 86-year old instrument. There is a crack in the heel that was repaired when we got it. Price includes good original hard case. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7)
