1969 Les Paul Custom at Pittsburgh Guitars

1969 Les Paul Custom
Black finish on a one-piece body, with a 3-piece neck with no volute, and a Kahler locking tremolo. This beauty has 3 original pots and the original tone caps, and a new switch, jack, and jackplate. It has a Duncan humbucker (50BM?) in the neck position, and a Duncan Invader in the bridge. It has been refretted, and there is copper shielding in the control cavity. It has a small neck crack 1/2-inch below the nut, long-ago repaired and barely visible. It is in very good condition otherwise, with lots of dings and chips, lots of fine finish checking, some bare wood, and a sticker from the 101st Airborne Division near the bridge. This is a players' guitar, and it has a great vibe and a lot of spirit. All things considered, this guitar is just plain cool! Price includes non-original hard plastic case with TSA locks. 1977 Les Paul Custom
Natural finish on a mahogany body with maple cap, 3-piece maple neck with volute, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, and gold hardware. It is all original with the exception of a new Gibson replacement pickguard and black chrome jackplate, and it is missing the rhythm/treble swtich washer. It's in very good condition cosmetically, with dings and scratches throughout, and belt buckle wear on the back. The binding has chipped in a couple places, and there is a lot of pitting on the gold hardware, especially the bridge, though it is fully functional. It weighs in at a svelte 10 lbs., 14 oz. 1973 SG Standard
Walnut finish, with an unbound ebony fingerboard and block inlays, two metal-covered humbucking pickups, a large rectangular Tune-o-Matic bridge, and 3-point pickguard. It has a number of small dings and scratches, and some belt buckle wear on the back. A previous owner had installed a large toggle switch in the original input position and moved the input jack to the edge. The edge hole has been plugged and touched up, and the input is back to its original position; the hole is still visible from inside the control cavity. The pot codes date to the 20th week of 1973. Price includes non-original hard Gibson case with fuzzy pink insides. The top of the lock latch was removed, and is inside the case compartment. 2015 Non-Reverse Limited Edition Firebird
Ebony finish on a Z-shaped solid mahogany body with gloss finish, and in excellent condition. It has a mahogany "Slim Taper" neck with rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays, and medium jumbo frets; Tune-o-Matic bridge with stop bar tailpiece; and two mini-humbucking pickups each with tone and volume controls. It is quite clean, with only a couple tiny dings -- nothing through the finish -- and the light surface scratches common on black guitars. Natural Burst finish on a mahogany body, with mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard and pearloid Trapezoid inlays. It has a Tune-o-Matic bridge with stop bar tailpiece, black tophat knobs, and two Alnico humbucking pickups with 3-way switching. It is in excellent overall condition, and has a number of small dings and scratches, some of which only show up in flash pictures, and some belt buckle wear on the back. It has one replaced tuner -- it's gold -- and it is possible that the nut has been changed. The neck is straight and it plays great. It's in very good shape cosmetically, with some small dings and wear spots, and minimal fretwear. Price includes clean non-original Gator gig bag, with a small tear in the side. 1979 Stratocaster (Hardtail)
Natural finish with maple fingerboard, non-tremolo bridge, and all original. It's in excellent overall condition, with a couple dings here and there, and some discoloration on the bottom edge of the fingerboard. It has some belt buckle scratches on the back, not through the finish. And there are some matted finish spots, front and back, possibly from laying on a strap. 2007 American Deluxe Series Ash Stratocaster
Aged Cherry Burst finish on an ash body, with S-1 switching and three Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Strat pickups. It has a modern "C" shaped maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and abalone dot inlays, and 22 medium jumbo frets. Other features include a two-point synchronized tremolo with stainless steel saddles. It is beautiful, and in very good condition, with several dings and small finish scuffs and chips. Features on this guitar include 3 gold Lace Sensor pickups, a roller nut, and locking tuners. It's in very good condition cosmetically, with a number of small dings and finish chips. Honey Blonde Transparent satin lacquer finish on an adler body, with rosewood fingerboard and dot markers, made in USA. It features a modern "C" shape maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot markers, vintage style 3-saddle strings-thru bridge, two vintage style single-coil tele pickups with alnico magnets, and 3-way switching. It's in excellent overall condition, with some dings and light scratches, mostly on the back and bottom. Price includes clean Fender hard case. Olympic White finish on a contoured alder body, with fast-action maple neck and maple fretboard, made in Mexico. This guitar features 3 single coil pickups with 5-way switching, and a standard synchronized tremolo. The tuners have been upgraded to Sperzel locking tuners. Tobacco sunburst finish and in excellent condition. Made in Korea, this single cutaway hollowbody features a double-bound laminated maple body with bound f-holes, a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid/abalone block inlays, 2 Duncan Designed humbucking pickups each with volume and tone controls, and a stylish "S" tailpiece. 1968 Rickenbacker 325
This is 3/4 scale Ric, made most famous by John Lennon's use of the model. It features a thin, hollow, double-cutaway body, 3 pickups, 5 knobs, and a whole lot of mojo! It has been refinished matte black, and has an added period Bigsby. All other parts are original except the bridge and bridgeplate. It's in very good condition with chips, scratches, and paint speckles. The fingerboard finish is cracked, and there is fret wear, but it still plays cleanly. Price includes non-original recent hard Ric case.

1967 Rickenbacker 330/12 in Mapleglo at Pittsburgh Guitars

1967 Rickenbacker 330/12 12-String
Mapleglo finish, made in the USA, and in excellent overall condition. There is nothing like the iconic jangle of a Rickenbacker 12-string! Features on this guitar include a double-cutaway, semi-hollow maple body with slash soundhole, a 3-ply maple/walnut/maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets, two Rickenbacker toaster pickups with 3-way switching and 5 control knobs -- tone and volume for each pickup, and a blend knob -- and the Rickenbacker "R" tailpiece. This is is a very clean example of this model, with only minor dings and light scratches, some on the body but mostly on the headstock and the bottom of the instrument. We have the original bridge cover, which screws are missing. The neck is straight and it has very minor fret wear. And the + wire from the input jack had been mysteriously cut and spliced when we got it. Other than that, this guitar is all original, and cool as can be! Price includes original hard case.

Rickenbacker's vintage reissue of John Lennon's famous Hamburg guitar, this short-scale instrument features a maple body, rosewood fingerboard with dot markers, 3 vintage-style pickups, a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, 4 TV-style control knobs, and a gold pickguard and headplate. It is in excellent overall condition, with some light surface scratches common to black guitars, and one tiny ding on the bottom body edge near the tailpiece. It has some belt buckle scratches on the back, and there is discoloration under the gold pickguard and the nameplate. Price includes hard black Ric case and lots of case candy.

One of only 45 made, this guitar is all original, with the exception of the neck pickup which was rewound by Tom Brantley. The 2x4 is "famous" for having been used by Tommy James & The Shondells (for about 15 minutes), and it features 2 single coil pickups with a 3-way selector switch, and a rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays. Crimson Transparent finish on a chambered mahogany body with a figured, arched maple top. It features a bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, Duncan 59 humbuckers, Grover tuners, and Guild's Chesterfield headstock inlay. It is in excellent overall condition, and weighs in just under 8 lbs. It was a factory second at original point of sale, though this many years later, it is impossible to know what the blemish was. It does have several small dings and light surface scratches. And there are screw holes visible on the bottom from a previously-installed Bigsby. Price includes original hard case. 2016 Yamaha Revstar RS502T
Bowden Green finish, with a rosewood fingerboard, and in near-mint condition. We bought this guitar from the original owner, who never played it outside of his home. The depth of the finsh color changes with light from a deep green to almost black. Features include a mahogany body with maple top, set-in neck with rosewood fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets, a Tune-o-Matic bridge and aluminum tailpiece. It has two VP5 vintage output P-90 pickups, and Yamaha's new-for-Revstar "Dry Switch," which filters out low frequencies for a "bright, clear tone with lots of body and no hum." This guitar is quite clean, and it sounds as cool as it looks. Price includes original Yamaha padded gig bag, in equally clean condition. (picture - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9)

It is in very good cosmetic condition, with a number of finish chips and scratches, and bare wood. It is missing the Teisco decal and the tremolo arm. Price includes non-original padded gig bag. Fondly known as the "Jimmy Page model," this guitar features black finish on a masonite body, white single-ply pickguard, a maple "C" shape neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays, and two "New-Old-Stock" lipstick pickups. It has an adjustable bridge, and two concentric volume/tone controls, with a 3-way switch. It is in near-mint condition, with no visible playwear, no dings or chips on the finish. Key to Descriptions

Before we sell any used instrument, we send it through our repair shop for a complete set up. But because they're used, we've worked out the following descriptions to let you know how used they are. We'll be happy to give you more information via phone or email.

Mint Condition--like new, no wear
Excellent condition
--some play wear, maybe some small dings or light surface scratches
Very good condition
--a few scratches, some dings and/or lacquer chips, but structurally sound, normal play wear
Good condition--structurally sound, has been played a lot, some repairs or cosmetic flaws possible
Fair condition--a well-loved guitar, may have some problems, but we'll describe them as accurately as possible
