Here we have a 2023 PRS Silver Sky John Mayer Signature in Frost (white)! This was a collaboration with renowned guitarist, John Mayer, and PRS to make a favorite familiar guitar model of his, but with a more modern feel, playability, and appointments. Some of these features include PRS’ traditional-styled locking tuners, PRS patented design steel tremolo with Gen III knife-edge screws, and stock 635JM pickups. The tremolo design lends itself to have better contact when it is setup flush with the body. The 635JM pickups are marketed to be very round and full without “ice-picky” brash treble. The maple neck and rosewood fingerboard are made to feel more rounded, as per John Mayer’s requested specs. The radius is 7.25”, which is vintage spec. The Silver Sky also features a bone nut, re-designed metal jack plate (to make plugging and un-plugging easier), and double action truss rod accessible from the headstock. Obvious deviations from the strat are the PRS style headstock and control knobs.
At first glance, the instrument appears “mint”; but of course, we managed to find minor scuffs, dings, and scratches. Please refer to the photo documentation provided. A couple of things to highlight are 3 tiny specks that worked themselves in between the paint and finishing process, and penciled writing on the raw wood body edge (which helps identify pre-sorted wood in the guitar factory). The writing is very faint; but we always try to depict what we see as best as possible. This Silver Sky is in “excellent” condition; and has undergone a professional setup by our shop repairman.
