1973 Hagstrom Swede in Cherry Finish; Comes with Original Hard Case and Pro-Setup
Categories
Here we have a stock 1973 Hagstrom Swede in Cherry Finish! This Hagstrom features a Mahogany body, and a bolt-on Mahogany neck. The fingerboard is Ebony, with a 12 in. radius and 22 frets. It has the original “Van Ghent” tuners, 2 humbuckers, and all the original hardware. The hardware (bridge, tailpiece, knobs, etc.) are indicators that this Swede was an early iteration before the model underwent a few cosmetic changes during the late 1970’s. Hagstrom was originally an accordion company, but got into the guitar market and were competing with companies such as Danelectro, Harmony, Teisco, Supro, etc. The Swede was an affordable “Les Paul”-like option during that period.
This instrument is in very good condition! It displays plenty of small nicks, dings, scratches, finish chips, minor buckle-rash, and some checking; but overall, the guitar is in very good shape. This Swede is a well-played guitar; the cosmetic wear definitely adds to the vintage vibe of the instrument. One thing of note is that the tailpiece does not precisely line up with the string spacing in relation to the bridge and fingerboard (see photo of tailpiece and bridge). As always, please see all the photo documentation provided of the cosmetic condition of the instrument.
This Hagstrom has the original hard case; and it has been professionally setup by our shop repairman. Please feel free to message us about this cool 1973 Hagstrom Swede in Cherry Finish!
