Guitar Repair FAQ

Have a question about guitar repairs? Please read below

Do I need to make an appointment? You do not. You can drop your instrument off at any time during regular business hours. We will give you a claim check and text when your instrument is done.

Is your repair person in? He is typically here Monday through Friday from 11-5.

I broke a string and only need one string put on my guitar. We typically do that right here on the sales floor right before your very eyes.

How quickly will my instrument get done? Our repair person works on instruments in the order that they are dropped off. Most common repairs are done in 1-3 business days.

Do you refinish instruments? Sorry, no we do not.

Do you stock parts? Yes, we do. We have a very large variety of used and new parts and pickups in stock.

I just had my guitar set up about 2 months ago. I just picked up to play it and now the strings are buzzing. We hear this a lot during the winter months when using the furnace. There is a 99.9 % chance that your guitar is drying out and needs to be humidified. Please don’t leave it on a stand or hang it on a wall hook in the winter and use an in-case humidifier when not playing.

Need something whacky done to your instrument? We are most likely going to tell you to bring it in and show it to our repair person.

Technician John Wagner has over 25 years of experience in amp repairs and has been with Pittsburgh Guitars since 1997.

A musician himself, John understands not only how an amplifier works but how it should sound. With a commitment to customer satisfaction, no work will be done without direct authorization from the customer, and all completed work carries a full 30-day parts & labor warranty.

Common amplifier services include:

  • Complete & thorough circuit diagnostics
  • Tube & Solid-State Technologies
  • Part of the Mercury Magnetics™ Service & Support Network* for transformer upgrades
  • Authorized Warranty Repair Center for Vox Amplification

We will ask for a bench charge deposit of $69.95 when you drop off your amplifier. That fee is applicable to any repairs made, but covers diagnostic time in the event that you decide not to go forward with repairs.
